Hi,

I think all the pages reachable from
http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/
should have a navigational menu of some sort, because right now I can\'t get back to the main site from the forums or go to the forums from \'Your account\' unless I use the back-button a lot.

Most pages have a direct link to the front page at the bottom.

There are a few other things which could do with rearranging -

1. The list on the left is good but I think the links should be ordered differently. It might be a bit of work but:

a/For new users, put the introduction and model download links at the top
b/For existing users, put the 'Your account', Message board and leader tables at the top

2. On the old system, the 'Your Account' Page started with your ranking, results etc which is what I expect most people want. This starts with your email/boinc preferences which probably gets changed infrequently. It would be worthwhile finding out what data people want to get at and organising it so that it's available on the shortest possible path instead of having to dig around for it.

PS. Where is my individual ranking listed now? Apart from opening the 'Top Participants' list and paging through it.

Its very pretty, but *completely unusable* ( for me ). Why is it necessary to make
basic navigation so complicated? I assume that it is code driven. (*Ugh*).

I'm using Mozilla 1.7.11 on Linux, javascripting is enabled. There is no java
installed, because I got tired of the maintainance overhead, and so few sites I
visit use it. That, and ActiveX, of course. Is this a client side code execution
issue?

When I tried BOINC out for the first time, it was my intention to give over most
of the CPU time to this project. I have no difficulty whatsoever with the sites
for LHC / Einstein / SETI.

Could some kind soul provide some STRAIGHT HTML LINKS to the important pages such
as "Results" and "Settings". If I can access those bits of the site then the rest
is just fluff I'd probably ignore anyway.

Problem Solved....

Need to get a Login Screen... Navigate to get a Login Screen. NAVIGATION DOESNT
WORK UNLESS LOGGED IN. Who thought this through I wonder?

I never have seen a "Login" option ANYWHERE obvious on the main page. Which is
where most people start of course. Hitting a link to post a message was the
first time I ever had the opportunity to login properly.

Could the site designer make a LOGIN screen on the main entry page(s) PLEASE.
Then maybe the pretty left hand side links wouldn't be DISABLED FFS!

Now I have a cookie I can at least keep it logged in so User / Site design
lameness will no longer be an obstacle.

I guess this can happen when caching a page is forced by the browser settings.

My entry is home.php and if I'm logged in with a cookie, it goes directly to my summary page.

If I'm not logged in, it automatically sends me to a login page first - but this login page is (dynamically generated) still home.php!

So the only thing that can be done on server side is appending a random number (time stamp or so) to the login page URL, like "home.php?dummy=12345678" to force the browser to use the web page instead of the cache.

Maybe it helps, if you set your browser bookmark to your personal summary page (home.php) too, so it starts with a page that has a generated login when no password cookie is present.
