I almost didn't start cp back up when it went to BOINC because of problems that I had with the SETI BOINC (I have not gone back to SETI BOINC because of the problems). Anyway, when I download a new work unit it will say it will take about 2000 hours on my 1.3 Ghz machine which was acceptable as it took nearly 5 weeks on my 2.6 Ghz machine using the "classic" format. The first two work units quit after about 200 hours with a "client error" message. It uploads and gives me credit, but I wonder if it really is working or just a waste of my computer time for bad work units or bad BOINC problems. |

cpdn wu are admittedly long compared to other DC projects. That's why we're give incremental credits and intermittently trickle back data. So in the likelihood of a crash occurring, we have at least partial results and you can also see this on your user pages. Completion of only X phases out of Y doesn't render the whole experiment useless.. |

I have also had a lot of trouble with models aborting while incomplete. Make sure you don't turn off, restart, log off etc without exiting or at least suspending the model first. When the classic forum is up again, do a search for UK_Nick's recent posts because about 2 weeks ago he and others had some v. gd. advice on What Not To Do. __________________________________________________ |
