Hello,

I very recently got involved with CP.NET, and BOINC. I am up running; have a account, downloaded the model/project, and am up and computing.

Now do I have to join a team? How do I go about doing it? And how do I choose one, there are like thousands of teams?

No, you certainly don't have to join a team. You have already joined a community of CPDNers, and the point is the science. Joining a team is just a bit of fun and the best way is to go to the 'teams' item in the left, select 'top teams' and look through the list. Click on the links for the ones that interest you and see what impression you get from their webpages and whether it is the sort of club you want to be identified with.

Thankyou, Andrew. Now I can take my time, and join a team when Im ready, just didnt know if it was mandatory. And yes the science is the most imporant, I find this endeavour all very interesting and exciting.

If you're not english or don't speak english very well, important teams can provide translations or help about CPDN or others BOINC projects.
You can join or quit or create your own team whenever you want.
How do you choose ? Test them. Go on their website and forum to see if they are too serious or too crazy for you.

The United Kingdom team of which I'm a member is pretty good. We probably post more on the message boards than any other team, but as you are from the USA you'll have to find another team.

No you don't have to join a team. But if you would like to join one that has only a few memebers and would welcome you - Try "cold fusion". We don't do much, we just got started and just "exists".
