Restarting after a power failure

I have an UPS that has software to restart the computer when the power comes back up. It's easy to get Terminal going again but I haven't been able to figure out how to get the model running again without a little human intervention. I'd appreciate any suggestions you can give me. Perhaps you can search for "cron" and find the answer.
