We have the model on the screensaver but any timewe want to change it (to show rainfall for example) it, of course, disappears since we touched a key and it is only a screensaver. Can you get to the model running on your own computer other than through the screensaver? thanks |

You can show graphics from within the manager/gui. You can even make changes that will show up on the screensaver until the next project switch. I would really like to see a means of setting the default behaviour of the screensaver in the project specific web site. BOINC WIKI BOINCing since 2002/12/8 |

Now I can't find them anywhere. I too am tired of the same old screensaver and don't have enough PC smarts to know how to change it. Any answers out there? Be either blinding or invisible, nothing in between. |

BOINC does not always make things obvious. To access the visualisation you need to go to the work tab of the BOINC window, and right click on the running WU. For information about the visualisation, see this thread, though if you are running the 4.10 CPDN model there is now an extra W option as well. I cannot recommend using it as a screensaver, though. It uses so much procesing power that it might slow up the processing of your model considerably. If you did want to use it as a screensaver despite that, you need to select BOINC as your Windows screensaver. There is more information than you are ever likely to want at Paul Buck's site. |

If by this you mean you would like the screensaver to remember the settings (display parameter, Earth orientation) it had before switching to another project, then I heartily agree. I'm getting a bit sick of twirling the globe to look at my part of it, rather than being faced with static longitude 0 all the time. |

You can show graphics from within the manager/gui. You can even make changes that will show up on the screensaver until the next project switch. Has there been any progress on this front, i.e. having changes persist beyond the next project switch? I see there is now a \'save camera on exit\' option in my preferences, but it doesn\'t seem to have affected this behaviour. Some else I\'d like to see - the edges of the display. I\'m working with twin monitors in portrait mode, but the BOINC display seems to assume that the largest dimension is in the x-direction with the result that I only see the central half. Any remedies? |
