70,000 runs and more than 5 million years. Is there any idea, when this projekt will be finished?

Hi Jens,
Its going to be quite a while yet. There are some new, more complex models in the pipeline. The first 'a Sulphur Cycle' experiment- currently being alpha tested and then later a 'coupled ocean' model
see http://www.climateprediction.net/science/strategy.php for further information on the experiment strategy

Just to sample all combinations of the parameter values will take about 3,000,000 runs for experiment 1. So there is a lot more to do, if the experimenters decide to use all the combinations. They have picked the parameters that should make most difference first and are gradually introducing others.

Great to see the sulphur cyle page. :-D

In one extra phase, the sulphate emissions will be changed to those expected in 2005

Is it 2005? At open day, 2050 was indicated. [edit] 1985 to 2005 does not seem a big gap (or is it due to Pinatubo?) [/edit]
