after that it started downloading v.4.12 and a new WU, while I still have a 4.04 WU running at 47%
Just upgraded from BOINC 4.25
to v. 4.43, the "recommended" version on the BOINC page (they don't even mention v. 4.25)

4.43 has the new client scheduler. It's known to be a bit over-enthusiastic in requesting work for CPDN, and the problem might have been fixed in the 4.44 development version.

Correct the fix is in the 4.44 version, or at least it is supposed to be I have too many workunits to know for sure.

It is a shame that 4.43 on OS-X won't let a CPDN WU to run at all ... errors them out almost instantly ...

I upgraded to 4.44 to try it out and see if it fixed the 4.43 problems but it froze completely my CPDN WU right at the start, at 0.00% and ran for over 15 minutes totally frozen. So I closed BOINC and downgraded to v. 4.25 and now it's crunching along at 48.62%
