I haven\'t received any credits since the day they \"fixed\" the credit/stats server.

There has to be another problem with the server -- hopefully they are working on it...

Unlike last time, the trickles are showing up on my stats page - but it\'s as though they all merit 0 credits!

Anyone have an idea about this?

Matthew

The project team are aware of the problem of credits not being assigned for trickles.

I've managed to track down the point where credits stopped being assigned to between 10:30:09 and 10:50:46 on 19th June. Can anyone refine this down to a shorter period?

The credits on my home page haven't changed, but they've spiked in BOINCstats and my position has gone down. :(
So something has been fixed, with visible results.

A new XML was created, so the still broken stats that were slightly updated got pulled down to stat sites, and allowed them to update.

I suspect they will work on it again tomorrow, for it is currently near bedtime for the UK.

The burst of credits that appeared on BoincStats was for the partial assignment of credits when the trickle problem was fixed last Tuesday. Just wait until the peak comes through when the current blockage is fixed ;)

And now I noticed Trickles are no longer showing up. Oh well, I still crunch and be patient.

As the trickles are not working anymore (again), some users are unable to monitor distant machines with no physical access.
Not sure if CPDN team is aware of this aspect...trickles can help monitor distant machines (emoticon idea).

Please, can someone from the CPDN team confirm that anything is acutally hapenning?

There are many people wondering; a lot of them with reduced CPU usage to CPDN or even already quit for good (or bad).

Again, it's not only about damn credit - monitoring distant machines or any feedback that CPU time, electricity hence money was not wasted by CPDN users.

A week ago, Sylvia stated that Tolu and Neil are back and working on the issue. We new couple of hours later that the issue is far from being solved... Not providing any further feedback will naturaly lower the confidence in the project.

Existence of problem with such a complex project is inevitable. Some got solved quickly (like the one with Einstein today) and people are not getting angry nor impatient. Some get solved in weeks with only a few feedback and people are getting [...]

Note the news section of CPDN, a planned outage in order to actually fix the db problem [hopefully the trickle, credit and misallocated WU issue]

Not sure if directly related, but :

I received the Credits for finished Models that previously were listed as "Complete" but with outcome "unknown"...

So something positive is definitely happening :)

I seem to be experiencing a similar problem. I;ve sent in one trickle on 7.24, 1 trickle on 7.25, and two trickles on 7.27. My recent average creadit is 2.56.

You have been working on a misallocated WU. So unfortunately someone else is getting the credit for your work. (That someone else has 1923 results mainly dated 31 May and 4 full results :/ Fortunately they are running smoothly again now.)

Having got so far, I would recommend you finish the model. Just have to hope the credit will be reassigned to you at some stage. When you start your next model you will resume getting credit.

actually, I think it's allocated OK (not quite sure why it thinks it was immediately over, but still running!). The total credits looks right. I am using an "average date" for trickle to figure out recent avg credit, so if you're near the end and started awhile ago (it started two months ago for this result), the recent avg credit will be low (probably too low). look like I'll have to rethink this calc! :-)

Actually Carl, I think Crandles is right. Looking at <a href="http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/show_user.php?userid=38324">this page</a>, it looks like he's trickling fine and just about to finish a WU. And in fact he is. But looking at the <a href="http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/result.php?resultid=890279">result id for 890279</a>, it is allocated to <a href="http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/show_host_detail.php?hostid=73804">another host (73804)</a> and the credits are going to that host.

Actually it looks like host 73804 is going to have a record number of credits for misallocated WUs as it has 1900 some results (because of large numbers of download errors that were not counted in the daily quota), a significant number of which are still being worked on by other computers and this host is gaining credits from all those computers. This is amazing!

According to the last failed model of host 73804, he is using BOINC 4.13, which apparently is seriously flawed.
If he is also working on SETI, he will now be forced to upgrade. So this should put a stop to the problems his machine has caused.

Top few posts in <a href="http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/forum_thread.php?id=17154"> this</a> long SETI thread.
Perhaps cpdn should also implement this block to make sure. Shame we didn't keep 4.25 available as well. It's quite good.

ahhh, well spotted, thanks to the awesome power of the trickle! :-)
so thank you crandles &amp; geophi (for the 100th time :-)

well now it will be simple to recalc the results/hosts to match up and people with mismatched hosts should be getting their proper credit.

I did bump up the mininum BOINC core version to 4.19 when David Anderson told all projects to do that -- of course with us it won't be until the next workunit is done that it will be enforced.

Carl
Thanks for the info on minimum version.

Paul
Thanks for the link to 4.25. Like the 'teen' versions until 4.19, there seem to be too many complaints of problems with versions beyond 4.25 to consider upgrading.
With only one computer, and no other projects, I have no problems at all using 4.25.
I got home from shopping 2 days ago, turned on the monitor, and found a MS message on the screen appologising for having to reset the computer. It mentioned possible causes, all to do with software, but I suspect an electrical storm, or swinging powerlines, as it was blowing strongly, and was very stormy looking.
But BOINC and hadsm were running as though nothing had happened. I have a VERY stable computer. Touch wood.

Well, there are also idiots like me saying I love version 4.45 ... wish I had it on the PowerMac, but the latest there is 4.43 which is Ok, but nor as good as 4.45 ... I am wavering on going to 4.72 early to try again to run CPDN on the Mac, but 4.43 and CPDN does not work, all models crash and burn some with no trickles even if I recall correctly.

To be honest, I like the bulti-projet and that maybe where 4.45 works best of all. FOr those onely runing one project, then yeah ... good chice till the force u up ... gonna besorth as having trouble typing
