We are fortunate to have received funding for a one-year post at Oxford working with the CPDN team, for an RS1A level position (realistically about £20-25K/year salary). obviously it\'s not a \"get rich quick\" job (like the rest of us --- it\'s more like \"get poor slower\" ;-), but if you are really into public distributed computing projects and BOINC, this is a great place to work and a great opportunity.

Basic duties will be to keep the servers fine-tuned & running, backups, shell scripts, etc, and it is hoped the person will want to assist on the important server-side stuff such as the \"grid\" for scientists to get data from upload servers via web services, the upload server file processing to update our central database with which servers have which files, etc.

Desired skills are Linux server sysadmin experience, some relational database work & light DBA duties (mySQL & Oracle), Perl and/or Python programming, any object-oriented programming (in C++ or Java) is a plus (or a plus plus? sorry).

The job will be \"formally\" advertised in a few weeks, but if anybody wants to \"informally\" send me their CV or discuss the post you can email me at: carlc [at] atm [dot] ox [dot] ac [dot] uk
