You haven't finished 3y8f_100206184. You have reached trickle 6, and there are 72 trickles in a model.
When you work out why you are not sending data to the server, you will start getting more credits.
If you really HAVE finished it, there will be 66 trickle_up_3y8f_100206184_*
in your climatepredication.net folder, plus 5 zip files for the model.

There should be several xml files in the main BOINC folder, starting with std.
If you look at these, you may find some messages about the problem.
If there is an error -113, this means that BOINC is not connecting to the outside world.

You say that you have stopped the program. Did you also try resetting the computer, (after suspending, waiting for BOINC to stop, and exiting the program)?

>Sorry I have messed up replying but here I go again. I am running boinc 4.19 on a Mac OS 10.3.9. I have only one std file and that is stderr, txt in the slots/0 directory and that file is empty. I have 21 trickle up files. All are short and contain similar to the following (the last on 2 Aug)

91 2 Aug 18:14 trickle_up_3y8f_100206184_0_1122970452.xml
orig
3y8f_100206184
2

The only one with more was on 28 July with;
gm

3464460

284.649,286.399,288.039,286.396,284.552,286.442,287.96,286.385,284.564,286.377,287.929,286.485$

In /slots/0 there are some *.zip files eg cpdnout5.zip with;
../../projects/climateprediction.net/3y8f_100206184_0_5.zip

When I say I finished, I ran the 25,900 or so time steps of phase 1 and am now on to phase 2.

I have had no problems in starting the program up again at the right time step after a controlC shut down and computer shut down and restart. Boinc Stat viewer gives my credits as 378.070002 with the last rpc on 23/05/05

OK. To start with: most trickles are like the 1st one you mentioned; trickles 24, 48, and 78, the ones at the end of each phase, also contain data to produce a graph of temp and rain for the phase.

The program does a save every 60 seconds (default), so when you restart for any reason, this data is used to start processing from that point. The fact that you were successfull at restarting is a good sign.

With 94.52 credits per trickle, what shows on your account page is about correct for 6 trickles.

So all you have to do is find out why you are not communicating with the servers.
And this is going to be a BIG problem if you haven't solved it by the time you finish!

I'm not familiar with the Mac BOINC, but in the Windows gui version, there is an option in the menu under File to Disable BOINC network access. If you have something similar, do you have it ticked?
Other possibilities are firewall settings, and proxy server settings.

Keep in touch. There's always someone around.

>Thanks for the help.I am running a command line boinc and cannot find a way to initiate connection. However I have checked my prefs page and the item "computers". It turns out that I have 5 computers listed under id's first is 169746 which lists the only trickles up to 2005-06-17. Then there are the four other ID's with zero trickles, the last has changed my computer name and they have different IP Nos. When in the office I have an IP address which is not what I use at home (the latter only added when I switched to broadband - determined by the broadband server). My question now is-- can I get get rid of the idle ID's and get back to some normality? Alternatively should I get rid of all that I have done so far and start again with a new account and if so will the diferent IP addresses be a problem? Finally I guess if I do start again is it worth switching to Boinc 4,43 for the Mac? It may be that my problems began when I attemted to switch to that and may be about 17 June!! I gave up on it and returend back to the old system and it seemed to staert up OK!! I note that CPDN are considerring dropping Macs because of the difficulty in maintaing their system idiosychcracies compared to MS PC''s.

To merge / delete computers, look near the bottom of your preferences.
I don't think the IP address matters, as it shoud be dynamic with broadband.
I think that you are stuck with a separate entry for the computer with a different name.

Check the Wiki <a href="http://boinc-doc.net/boinc-wiki/index.php?title=Main_Page"> here</a> for any mention of Macs using cli BOINC.

You could also try the <a href="http://setiweb.ssl.berkeley.edu/"> SETI site</a>, although you may have to register to post. But some browsing might turn up a clue about getting your computer to talk to the 'net.

I'm not in a position to suggest which BOINC version is OK for Macs.

I think that current Macs will continue to (work) / (be supported) here, as long as BOINC doesn't get altered too much.

Dump the lot and start again? Leave that until you have tried some / all of the above.

I thought of something last night: a post by Thyme Lawn about ports with large numbers.
Finally found it <a href="http://www.climateprediction.net/board/viewtopic.php?t=3017&amp;start=15"> here.</a>
Unfortunately, they seem to be talking about a different subject, but it may still be relevant.

I'm assuming that when you went from dialup to broadband, that you didn't change anything in your computer setup, so BOINC may not know about any new ports that are needed now.
Have you any way of looking at what ports are in use by your firewall, and by which programs?

If you still aren't getting anywhere, a safe plan is to backup the ENTIRE BOINC folder to somewhere safe, and THEN download the newer version, and hope that during install it asks about ports.
