I have a sulpher model running on a fairley slow computer P4 2.4 Gig. almost ready to turn in the 5th Trickle.

BOINC just downloaded a new Slab unit?

With CPDN running about 75% of the time I think I can run one tricklet of the slab per week and still finish up the Sulpher by the end of 2005, than run the Slab model through.

With the new units that are comming out in Feb. 2006 would what I said above be better for the program or just abort the Slab unit? My system is taking about 14 hours per Trickle on the Sulpher unit, most days one Trickle turned in, some 2 Trickles. (Slab takes about 9 hours per Trickle).

I hate micromanageing this, but for some reasin I have CPDN set to run 70% of the time, but will not run with other projects in BOINC. So I have the SETI units (26 now) suspended, and each day release the number needed to give CPDN about 75% of the time.

Getting a new data set very early sounds like the known problem with BOINC 4.45 and up.

Playtime is over. The project is starting to get serious.
But the slab models will still be around, as this is a requirement of the Open University course.

I think that when the SETI work that I have on hand is finished I will take a few weeks off from that. Since the slab is still going to be used will let it run a little each week, set CPDN to "no new work" finish up the Sulpher, than Slab. That will keep the computer busy for quite a while.

I would suggest setting no new work for CPDN and aborting the slab model. You'll need to remember to allow new work shortly before the sulphur model finnishes but that isn't much micro-management. You may still end up micro-managing though.

If you leave it alone it will switch work until it becomes overcommitted and stop downloading new SETI work finish the SETI work then work exclusively on sulphur. It may then drift in and out of overcommitted so you still get some variety of work and finish by the deadline but I wouldn't want to guarantee that both will happen.

Whether this is adequate will depend on how strictly you want to stick to your 70% resource share.

I have all set t no work for now, probably will slowley finsih up the seti that I have and stick to CPDN.
I tried letting it run on it's own before, but after a day and a half of no time to CPDN I started micro manageing it. My first CPND model did not even start until I turned SETI off. Can stop that if I just clean up what I have for SETI and Predictor. Not getting any credit from SETI now, about 30 pending, and Predictor gives little credit for the time. At least with Predictor and CPDN I know that the work will be used.
