G5 2.5 with 2.5 GB memory. OS X 10.4.2
I am now using the updated BOINC Manager 4.4.3 after being idle for a few months. I set my Preferences to use one processor but it is will not back down from using both processors at full tilt.
Suggestions?

1. Changes to preferences only apply after the project has been updated. Select PROJECTS tab, select Climate Prediction and hit the Update button.

2. If you are running multiple projects, change your CPU preference on all.

3. Have you changed the preferences for one location (HOME) but your Mac is in another location (say, WORK)?
Check your CPDN profile.
