Message 20276 - Posted: 15 Feb 2006, 13:34:58 UTC

I am running Boinc 5.2.13 on Windows XP and several projects. The workunit from Climateprediction.net, and the others, started and was running successfully. The report deadline has changed from 28th Nov 2006 to 13th Dec 1901 !!!!!.
Now the earliest deadline first scheduling kicks in and the other projects don\'t get a look in.
Can the report deadline be reset or should I abort the workunit.

Thanks

Some where along the line your computer has been rebooted, and the computer clock had the wrong time.

It may be best to get another model.
But fix the clock problem first.
And power down / power up to make sure that it\'s correct.
(It may be a flat backup battery in the machine.)

Thanks, I had checked the clock, no other programme has been affected and the clock/time seems OK.

The project should complete before the deadline by excluding the other projects for a few months but........

In the file client_state.xml there is an entry for report_deadline of <-10479728147.000000>. Does this relate to 13th Dec 1901. other project entries in the file have a different entry eg <1140892251.000000> and the climate change entry looks as though it is a negative value. Before throwing away the work is it worth trying changing this entry?

oops
value of the entries got left out they are is -10479728147.000000 and 1140892251.000000

You could try changing it after a backup, but I don\'t know what values to use.
I think they are microseconds since the model started.
You may get a clue from a backup made before the problem occurred.

If it doesn\'t have long to go, letting it continue may be OK but I don\'t think that you\'ll get credits.

Almost certainly. Changing the value to 1167948344.000000 should set the deadline to 00:00:00 on 13th Dec 2006. Trickling and credits should be fine.
