Hi,
My architecture (x86-64-pc-linux-gnu) is not directly supported by climateprediction.net. I need either the applications\' source code, or a link to download the i386 versions, to use the anonymous platform support of BOINC.

Where can I find them?

Thanks,
Pablo

The application\'s source code is over 50 Megs, contains over 1 million lines of Fortan, and is the property of the Met Office, who run the original 64 bit version on supercomputers as part of their forecasting software.
So you can\'t have it.

A 64 bit compile has been tried a few times, but was very unstable, so, for the moment, all model types are 32 bit.
Nor does this project support an anonymous platform, just the one listed on this site\'s download page.
People are using 64 bit OS, but running 32 bit app versions.

Why not? The anonymous platform is what makes Boinc such an interesting DC software. We can use i686 applications on AMD64, K7, pentium4, etc -optimized Boinc, without (too much) hassle.

I run other amd64-compiled applications; so, compiling Boinc for 32-bits is not an option. Is there a way to pass an platform string that climateprediction.net would accept, without downgrading my performance on olher projects? If not, these amd64 computers will not be able to contribute here.

amd64\'s can run just fine using the 32-bit boinc, but that is the only option available now I\'m afraid.

I take it there\'s no way to run two instances of boinc with different port numbers? (unlikely, I know...)

Theoretically it may be possible to run it in a VMWare/Xen/... virtual machine on his box? Probably quite a bit of hassle though.

No climateprediction for me at school, then. Thanks for the answer.
