Hi !

Just tried to join CPDN, but I\'m having a problem.
WU that I gets is saying 4492h to completoition.
I\'ve runt it for 2 hours and estimate seems correct. Computer is running only some 8h/day on average and given that deadline for the WU is 19.10.2007, it will not be finished in time...
Any ideas, how to resolve this ? To get less amount of work? I won\'t want to start something I can\'t finish... But I would realy like to participate on the project...
Is BBC project giving smaller WUs ?

Thanks in advance,

Tomaz

BBC and CPDN are giving the same model.
THe deadline is just an indication.
You can send the Wu after the deadline: It will be accepted by the server, credited and used by the science team.
Happy crunching :o)

Hi, Tomaz,

In addition to Arnaud\'s advice, it will help if your Preferences are set to \"Yes\" for leave in memory when suspended and while you work.

The time-to-completion can be wildly inaccurate early in your first Model because boinc bases it on benchmarks; boinc \"learns\" as the Run progresses.

To be even more efficient, don\'t use the screen-saver. (It can be set to \"blank\" or \"None\" in Windows.) Instead, use \"Show graphics\" in the Manager/Tasks when you want to take a quick look. (Click \"Z\" when the graphic display is active to get rid of the overlay; it then shows information about your Model\'s progress. If you click \"8\", a count-down indicator shows how many Time Steps until the neck Checkpoint. You can save rerun time by shutting-down after the counter goes to zero and back to 432.)

However much you can complete will be useful. Trickles of data are uploaded after 04 December of each Model year, large uploads every ten Model years, and full re-start dumps every 40 Model years.

Occasional backups are important -- to recover/restart in case of a problem. Since you shut-down every day... (How-to instructions are in the \"Sticky\" messages.)

The record shows that you aborted two Models. Is there a problem?

Best of luck.
