Hi, my screen saver has gone into black and white sketch mode and no longer seems to be rotating - no matter how many times I press contol+S.

Also, the whole set up began again just before Christmas tho I see from my account that I have registered quite a large amount of time.

Can anyone help with this problem - should I take the whole thing off and begin again or what?

Hi Chris

My screensaver has done something similar recently. I can get mine started again by pressing T or C, which brings the colours back and THEN pressing S which starts globe rotation and sometimes I need to press L to switch off the daylight rotation. After that it seems to work normally until the next time I open the graphics.

I don\'t use the screensaver all the time because it uses processor power and slows the project down, but open it occasionally using the Show Graphics button to check the progress of the model.

I have no idea why it suddenly started doing this. I did wonder whether some other programme might have installed an update which affected BOINC or the graphics.

HTH

I am running Widows XP Pro and my screen saver turned into a static skeleton around the time that the message advertising the BBC television appeared. I am now getting the \"encouragement message\", - this computer is involved in important stuff.

Hi all,
All your current models are reporting home regularly so there is no problem with the computation, just the graphics.
Chris,
you had a model fail in early November with a graphics related problem so you are now running a different model. Don\'t worry, the first model produced 30 years of data before it died. Go to the website of your graphics card and get the most up to date drivers for it, which should prevent a similar failure.
All,
One of the options of the graphics is to display a \"wireframe\" globe. Triciabuk\'s method is perfectly OK but you need to do it every time you want to look at your globe.
To reset the default view to something more appealing got to Your account on the left here and scroll down to climateprediction.net preferences. In there go down to the bottom and click Edit...preferences. Now you can select what you want the default view of your model will show. For example;
Scene --- Temperature
Rotation --- Clockwise
Starfields --- On

When you are happy, click Update preferences at the bottom. Any changes you have made will not take effect until either the next time your model trickles or you manually update.
The screensaver and graphics use a lot of processor power that could be better used in running the model so most peolpe have their screensaver set to blank screen, for best performance, or to a simpler generic one.
Hope that helps everyone. If you still have problems, come back and tell us. The answer to your problem may help somebody else as well.
Edited for typos.

Just for clarification;
If you change any of the settings away from the default then you have to make sure that the you set use default settings, down at the very bottom, to no otherwise your changes won\'t apply. Also the updated preferences won\'t be applied until the next trickle or manual update. You may even need to exit and restart Boinc after that, but I\'m not sure as I don\'t use the graphics often.

I\'m beginning to think that the graphics problem appearing at the same time that the new scrolling message appeared was just a co-incidence.
It may have been due to the alterations to all of the user\'s Account pages to accommodate the extra stats info.
This also occurred at about the same time.
