But some other program sometimes takes over the port used by the 2 parts of BOINC for talking to each other. (The \"local host\".) Often this is a Windows program. Even though the port(s) used by BOINC are registered, MS ignores this and uses whatever they want to. There have been new ones registered over the years, the latest being \"Pi\" - 31416. This is used by the newer versions of BOINC, and has more success avoiding being taken over, but it still happens now and then. :( Backups: Here ID: 31623 · Reply Quote

So what I would suggest is to do the setting(s) as you want then do a normal quit. This should save your settings and work the next reboot. ID: 31625 · Reply Quote
