In real life I am a teacher, so I am going to start marking your tests.

If you thought the quiz was silly but still tried it 1 starter point for always joining in.

If you refused to take the test because you thought it was too silly 2 starter points for being more sensible than me.

If you thought the test might teach you something about CPDN and BOINC 3 starter points.

If you found that the test made you more confused about CPDN and BOINC than before 5 starter points.

If you thought that a teacher should never start a test with the most difficult questions 6 starter points.

If you thought I am the wrong person to write a CPDN & BOINC quiz because I know less about them than you 10 starter points.

You will need a pencil and paper to add up all your points when I start giving the answers to the questions.

Q1

a is correct 1 point.
But very few people know this, so c is half correct ½ point.

Q2

a is correct, it\'s in your computer 1 point.
But so few people know this that c is also half correct ½ point.

Q3

b is correct, it\'s a Windows error 1 point.

But you probably only see it through the BOINC manager messages, so in this very, very wide sense a is also correct 1 point (though that isn\'t where the message originates).

The bad command may in a few cases have come from a model with bad parameters, so d could be correct 1 point.

You may have done terrible things with your keyboard like playing games for far too long with the model running, so in this loose sense e is also correct 1 point.

So few people know any of this that f is half correct ½ point.

Q4

b once a month, is correct if you don\'t leave the computer on very much 1 point.

c once a week, is correct if you crunch all or most of the time 1 point.

If it takes you ages to produce a single trickle, d could be correct 1 point.

Q5

a is wrong because I\'m going to tell you now.

c is correct (lots of spammers) 1 point.

e is also correct, no normal member has ever been banned from this forum 1 point.

If you\'ve never been banned from any forum give yourself 5 bonus points.

If you\'ve never spammed any forum give yourself 10 bonus points.

Q6

b is correct. Only version 5. Very important so 2 points.

If you still have BOINC version 4, thought you can run CPDN with it and answered a, you\'re crashing every model you download so DEDUCT 10 POINTS.

Q7

a is correct, Dr Myles Allen is the chief scientist at CPDN 1 point.

If you also knew who Dr David Anderson is (the founder of BOINC) give yourself 1 bonus point.

Q8

b is correct, HADCM is the longest model 1 point.

If you\'ve completed an 80-year HADCM 5 bonus points.

If you\'ve completed a 160-year HADCM (or BBC model) 10 bonus points.

Q9

b is correct, they\'re tasks 1 point.

Q10

a is correct, you should use the same email address at every project 1 point.

But if you want to see your credits added together on the stats sites you must also use the same name, so c is correct 1 point. You only get this point if you also answered a.

There were 10 questions so you can now tell me your totals eg 6/10. The examination pass mark is 1/10. Please include starter points and bonus points in your totals.

If you post and tell me your test results, give yourself 10 bonus points.

You certainly posted in the right place. Everybody else must be very shy about their results either because they did so badly or did so well.

Congratulations on 35/10! I hope you find a buyer for your spare points.....
