Hello,

I get an error uploading: http error

Result-Id = http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/result.php?resultid=7156084

05.05.2008 18:39:16|climateprediction.net|Started upload of hadam3h_n_090s0_003b_003b_0_4_1.zip
05.05.2008 18:39:18|climateprediction.net|Temporarily failed upload of hadam3h_n_090s0_003b_003b_0_4_1.zip: http error
05.05.2008 18:39:18|climateprediction.net|Backing off 2 hr 14 min 32 sec on upload of hadam3h_n_090s0_003b_003b_0_4_1.zip

I have got only one trickle so far, so the WU is just at the beginning (
13 hours CPU time)

Have I to abort the WU or can I wait until it will be uploaded?

Regards

Please wait
There are times when the servers become VERY busy, as the project people run programs to extract data from the database for the researchers.

Hi Legolas

Could you please temporarily show your computer(s) - at the moment it\'s hidden - so we can check later to see whether your upload has been accepted by the server.

To show your computer you\'ll need to change this option in the CPDN preferences in your account.

Thank you.

Hello,
I found the reason. I had the same problem with CPDN Seasonal Attribution project.
It has to do with the proxy server, which doesn\'t allow access for uploading but the normal boinc manager access to the projects works fine.
Here is the link to that forum post

Thank you.

Hi again Legolas

Thanks for letting us see your computers and models. I think you\'ve now managed to solve the uploading problem by letting your computer give internet access to BOINC while you\'re at home. I see that another trickle uploaded yesterday for your CPDN HADAM model.

http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/result.php?resultid=7156084

Did the CPDN model\'s zip file also upload? If you have any SAP or CPDN model zip files sitting in your BOINC manager Transfers tab, could you please tell us what they are.

Are you running the CPDN screensaver? If you are, I\'d advise you to disable it. The CPDN screensaver is dynamic, changing all the time, so it slows down the processing of the model and can also cause graphics problems.

Hi,
my Boinc manager Transfer tab is now empty so all the files have been transferred.
And I\'m not running any Boinc screensavers because they slow down the work. A few years ago my CPDN crashes when the screensaver was enabled. Probably that has been fixed, but that was the reason why I disabled all Boinc screensavers.

I turned on the http_debug and http_xfer_debug to see what happens next time when I have to upload a CPDN file with proxy server.

Regards
legolas

That\'s good news about the zip files.

When I looked at your list of previous models, I noticed that your HADAM model from SAP processed perfectly, but a lot of your CPDN models have crashed with 22 or -107 errors. -107 errors are usually graphics-related and 22 errors can indicate the same thing. This is probably a software problem, not hardware.

I recommend that in the project READMEs which are linked in my signature you should look at the collection about crashes and problems. Go to item #6 by MikeMars who lists all the common problems and precautions. In the same collection look also at item #7 by Thyme Lawn who explains how to update graphics card drivers. Doing this may eliminate graphics-related model crashes.

It\'s also worth looking at the README collection about how to back up the contents of the BOINC folder. So if a model crashes in future you could restore the backup and continue the same model. I just use Les Bayliss\'s easy manual backup/restore methods which work excellently.

Hope that helps.

Hello, I didn\'t find the collection about crashes and problems you mentioned. Do you have the link to these?

I did the backup as it is described, so next time when my CPDN model crashes I
I\'m able to restore and continue it. Thanks for the good hints.

The READMEs are near the top on the CPDN independent forum here:

http://www.climateprediction.net/board/index.php

The five collections are here, including the one about crashes and problems

http://www.climateprediction.net/board/viewforum.php?f=44&sid=61f7852560355e9b9e3e2566a9b10576

And if I open up the collection about crashes and problems

http://www.climateprediction.net/board/viewtopic.php?t=5896

and the 6th link there is the post by Mike, which he posted on this forum!

http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/forum_thread.php?id=4231

I agree that it\'s rather difficult to find if you haven\'t visited the READMEs before. In my opinion this post by Mike is one of the most useful in the whole of BoincLandia.

It\'s also useful to register separately on the independent forum and save the link because if this BOINC forum server is ever down, we can still post on the independent forum.
