hi, just installed this last night and think maybe i should uninstall and start over.

i\'ve decided i don\'t want to have the screen saver running but really would like some kind of visualization, and apparently i don\'t have that option.

i *know* last night i saw that one could get help via Skype, so was going to do that, but can\'t find that information again.

any thoughts appreciated!

Welcome to the Project and the Boards.

We recommend against using the CPDN screen saver. It saps a large amount of the machine\'s resource.

Go to the Windows/Control Panel/Display/Screen Saver and set Screen Saver option to \"Blank\".

To take an occasional peek at the Run\'s status, go to boinc Manager/Tasks and click on \"Show Graphics\".

[Edit: Is that Portland Oregon or Maine?]

[Edit2: Your machine shows 446.48 MB RAM. This suggests an on-board graphics chip. These can be troublesome with CPDN graphics. It is strongly recommended that you go to the vendor\'s website and download/install the latest graphics driver. \"How to\" here:

[Edit3: Hi, Les; how are things with the coming Winter \"Down Under\"?]

Screen savers are a Windows \"thing\". All the project\'s do, is supply them so that people can select them if needed. (An option during installation.)
But, as with most Window\'s options, the screen saver can be disabled, and either blank or none selected in it\'s place.

Right click on the desktop
click Properties
click Screen Saver
select from the drop down list.

Then to display the graphics, click the Show Graphics button in the Tasks tab of the manager.

edit
Help is coming fast at the moment. Hi Jim. :)

happy to know you recommend against it, i\'d already turned it off.

when i do this, i don\'t get anything.

Portland, Maine, thanks for asking, probably should have done my name Donna-Portland-Maine.

I will try to do this, thanks, tomorrow, too late now. my computer is starting to seem a bit old and small, and so even if i end up not being able to \"visualize\", i\'m sure there is still a lot i can learn here and contribute my small amount.

Thanks for all the replies!

Hi,

If you switch to the \'tasks\' tab, select the running model by clicking on it once, then click the \'show graphics\' button, you should then see the same graphics which would have been displayed by the screensaver.

Winter?
What winter?
Sun screen cream is probably still selling well. :)

Cold nights, Hot days. Plants and insets are confused.

Yes, should have mentioned the \"click on a model\" part.

I\'d missed that bit of your post ... That\'s the trouble with me trying to respond when I\'m in too much of a hurry to actually read everything :-)
