Hi everyone,
i\'ve got a small question - i\'m likely to need to/want to format my pc before the 1500hr wu has finished so is there a way to backup the wu? As i really don\'t want to waste 300hrs cpu time!!
Thanks in advance for your help
Kind Regards
Lloyd

You mean that you\'re not ALREADY backing up your models? !
On this project this is more or less a necessity if you want to get through them safely.

See my sig for the list of ways to do it.

But basically, its:
Exit from BOINC.
Copy the BOINC folder.
Paste the BOINC folder \'some where else\'.

In your case a bit more is required.
Use Control Panel -> Install/Remove programs to uninstall BOINC.

Using Windows explorer:
Right click on the BOINC folder
Click on Send to
Click on Compressed (zipped) folder

This will put a zipped copy of the BOINC folder on the root folder, probably C:\\
Copy this zipped folder to a cd/dvd.

After the folder is copied to the new OS installation, re-install BOINC. (This fixs the registry entries.)

*****************

The reason for zipping is so that the attributes are also copied. Otherwise everything will become read only after copying back from the cd/dvd.

And BOINC should NOT be installed in the old (current) default location of C:\\Program Files\\BOINC, when using Vista.
