It's been raining in New England for about a month now with only one break of more than a couple of hours.

I cannot remember ever having this much steady rain every single day, week after week. Long stretches of grey and drizzly? Yes. Endless stretches of medium to torrential rain every day? Nope.

Maybe it's the rotting teepee in the backyard, or the mold on my vinyl siding, but joining this project seems more than usually relevant.

I have a lot of opinions, but I would like a better basis in fact before I expressing them to anyone but my long suffering family and friends.

I'm a retired tech writer with considerable experience in documenting extremely complex software and hardware, including a year at Grumman where I worked with NASA, so if there's actual work to which I can lend my experience, let me know.

Best to all,

Marilyn in sodden Massachusetts

Hi Marilyn

It's a pleasure to welcome another woman to BOINC and CPDN as we are definitely in the minority in distributed computing.

There do seem to be increasing numbers of reports of unseasonal and unusual weather in many parts of the world and as CO2 levels continue to rise I expect some things will continue to get worse for years after emissions are stabilised.

On the CPDN index page in the menu on the right you'll find a good introduction to climate science and also descriptions of various experiments that use our models. The regional and millennium experiment models have not yet been publicly launched.

It's often a good idea for new members to try all the model types available, currently five types. In our accounts we can choose the type of model we want for our next download by editing our ClimatePrediction preferences before we fetch new work.

You may want to save a link to the CPDN README collections and subscribe to the forum News thread where we try to announce everything we think members need to be aware of. There are links in my signature.
