Hey,
I'm working on this WU:
http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/workunit.php?wuid=6283128

The result seems to be cancelled because there are already too many errors. Will my result as soon as it finishes still be looked at from a scientific point of view, I'm not talking about credits.

Or will they just ignore any possible result from it?

Thanks

Tom,

No, the workunit is cool. I've seen this enough times to know it's normal. The BOINC server here creates many copies of the same workunit because so many people do not finish the ones they download (especially those long HadCM3 models). I'm sure if you finish that workunit in your task list, the result will be useful for scientific analysis.

I'd really like to hide that page from people, but apparently it's not possible. :(
The question has been answered lots of times on these boards, but I'm not sure where.

Modify the text constants :-)

Errors : "Too many total results"
=>
Errors : "not evaluated on WU level"

Validate state : "Workunit error - check skipped"
=>
Validate state : "no validator in use"

or something like that.

They will not be in the .po files so the scripts will not translate those new constants - but that will sure cause less confusion than the wrong error messages.

Unfortunately, hiding that section of the page or chenging the text both amount to the same thing: papering over the symptoms.

Even though there is no validation at the WU level here at CPDN, the other parts of the BOINC system are still functioning, and one of those check rules means that many of the tasks created by the researchers never get sent out to volunteers.

The true solution would be to set realistic "max # of error/total/success tasks" configuration parameters on the server before the WUs are first released.

The real reason that no editing of the messages will be done, is that it would have to be done again each time there was a server upgrade.
Milo has said that this is NOT going to happen.
