Hi, I have had to re-install my whole O.S. due to a HDD failure, hence losing all the work pending with climateprediction.net and other projects. After installing BOINC 6.2.19 I have successfully attached to several projects again, including climateprediction.net, but this last one does not seem to download any new tasks. I have also changed the computing preferences for all the projects to save some resources and they look like this: \"Preferences last modified: 2 Sep 2009 9:13:15 UTC Processor usage Suspend work while computer is on battery power (matters only for portable computers) yes Suspend work while computer is in use? yes \'In use\' means mouse/keyboard activity in last 15.0 minutes Suspend work if no mouse/keyboard activity in last (Needed to enter low-power mode on some computers) Enforced by version 5.10.14+ 0.0 minutes Do work only between the hours of (no restriction) Leave applications in memory while suspended? (suspended applications will consume swap space if \'yes\') yes Switch between applications every (recommended: 60 minutes) 60 minutes On multiprocessors, use at most Enforced by version 5.10 and earlier 1 processors On multiprocessors, use at most Enforced by version 6.1+ 100.0 % of the processors Use at most (Can be used to reduce CPU heat) Enforced by version 5.6+ 50.0 percent of CPU time Disk and memory usage Use at most 100.0 GB disk space Leave at least (Values smaller than 0.001 are ignored) 25.0 GB disk space free Use at most 25.0% of total disk space Write to disk at most every 60.0 seconds Use at most 15.0% of page file (swap space) Use at most Enforced by version 5.8+ 25.0% of memory when computer is in use Use at most Enforced by version 5.8+ 50.0% of memory when computer is not in use Network usage Computer is connected to the Internet about every (Leave blank or 0 if always connected. BOINC will try to maintain at least this much work.) 0.0 days Maintain enough work for an additional Enforced by version 5.10+ 0.25 days Confirm before connecting to Internet? Check this ONLY if your Internet provider modifies image files (UMTS does this, for example). Skipping verification reduces the security of BOINC. no\" I have also selected, under climateprediction.net preferences, all the tickable applications: UK Met Office HADSM3, UK Met Office HADCM3, UK Met Office HADAM3, UK Met Office HADSM3 Mid-Holocene and UK Met Office HADAM3P. Still, nothing seems to download when I click on Update under the climateprediction.net project. I use Windows XP SP3 on a computer with 2,5 GB RAM, ADM Sempron 2600+ and have 58 GB of free HDD space. Any help appreciated! Thanks, |

It\'s possible that you haven\'t received any work from cpdn simply because BOINC has decided that it has enough at present from your other projects. If this is the reason, then you\'ll just have to wait until it\'s ready for some. Note 1 There are currently only 3 types of models available, as per lots of messages posted a month or so back in News and Announcements, which is at the top of the Number Crunching part of this forum. You can see which types are available from time-to-time, in two places in the blue menu to the left: Applications, and Server Status. Note 2 The hadsm3p models are guaranteed to crash on Semprons, as they don\'t have SSE2. This is noted in this post. (The original post in the thread.) Backups: Here |

Thanks so much for the answers. I have changed now my settings for climate prediction so it only tries to work with HADSM3 applications: the 45 model years one (Slab?) and the Mid-Holocene one (60 model years) as they are currently the only ones available under applications plus the HADAM3P one but, as you said, it seems to be incompatible with my CPU. I honestly hope that the changes I made under the computing settings to save resources, which affects how all the applications are run under BOINC, aren\'t too drastic. And I will keep waiting for BOINC to decide to download some work from climateprediction.net! (I actually just noticed that there is an application running with high priority (SETI@Home with Astropulse v505 5.05) and, as you mentioned, could be making BOINC decide to wait until it finishes in order to get more work for other projects) Cheers and thank you again, |

I have just restarted other projects after a spell on WCG and have tried to download CPDN but it has failed twice. This has been asked about and answered oodles of times in this thread. And just a few hours ago in this thread. Also, see Thyme Lawn's post here. Finally, there's no work at present. A large batch of Regional models was made available, downloaded, and completed a couple of weeks ago. More work in the new year. Backups: Here |
