Here is the fix; it's the last line of the post that explains what to do:

http://climateapps2.oerc.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/forum_thread.php?id=7231

It is unusual for Macs to crash CPDN models (Macs are usually very reliable crunchers) so this is probably the solution for anyone with a Mac. The problem is not your fault and it's not your computer's fault.

Please tell us when you have detached from CPDN and reattached, or reset CPDN using Boinc manager. Then we can ask Andy, our programmer, to allow your computer's daily quota again.

If you are not sure how to reset CPDN please find my instructions above in red in my post of 15 September.

Jetzt neu installiert boinc-Manager 6.12.35 wxWidgets Version 2.8.10

Hallo Manfred

If Manfred's current models fail and don't run I've asked him to try another reset.

Check the Sticky post at top of the Mac section. Your boinc version is newer but the post might still apply.

I received the email message below. I have no idea why there might be a problem with my boinc or my climateprediction.net . I did a reset of climateprediction.net and I rebooted the machine in case that might help. Let me know what I can do to get things going again. Thank you -- Marnix A. van Ammers

CPN hasn't run in a few weeks after upgrading to Mac OS Lion. Since CPN is not in the Task list I can't see any task messages in the Event Log. I used BOINC Stats to detach and attach again but no luck. From the Projects tab I tried Reset Project but I still get a response from CPN that it is "not accepting requests from this host".

Any assistance anyone can provide would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Don

I expect that on Monday when he's at work again our programmer, Andy, will reallow the daily model quota of all the members who've said they have detached and reattached to CPDN, or reset CPDN in the Projects tab.

Thank you to everyone who has posted to say this.

You can go to Your account in the blue menu on the left. Or you can just click on your own name (or the names of other members) to see the details of the problem crashed models.

You're running 64 bit Linux, but you also need 32 bit libraries for these models.
In order to run cpdn on a 64bit Linux PC without errors, you may have to install these compatibility libraries. See this entry in the BOINC wiki for more information.

Marnix, you have a second Mac with the same problem. Could you please reset CPDN in its Projects tab or detach from CPDN then reattach.

But I have no idea what fix it is you want me to apply ? why not just e-mail it to me? I've done the standard thing, update BOINC from 6.10.x to 6.12.35, perhaps that will help?

Andy Anderson and David

Mac runs applications in a sandbox, with the BOINC core client running project applications under a limited permissions account. All CPDN applications consist of 2 programs; BOINC runs the controller process with starts the worker process (e.g. hadcm3n_um_6.07_i686-apple-darwin). It appears that a permissions change in 6.12.* is preventing the worker process launch when the application programs are already on your system.

Resetting CPDN (or detaching and reattaching) forces the application programs to be redownloaded and should fix the problem.

If you look at the list of models for your Macs, you'll see that they've been crashing hundreds of them a few seconds after they start. :(

Please let us know when you've applied the fix, so that the computers can be re-activated for more work. Not that there IS any left at the moment.

Yet another mis-configured mac running Lion. I've reset CPDN and updated to the latest BOINC -- anything else I can do?

Thanks,

I don't see an option in Mac BOINC to "Detach" or "Reattach", but I can reset it so I've done that.

Norris

I hope that you did those 2 steps in the other order. It's upgrading BOINC that's causing the problem. :)

Still, we'll see.

edit
Oops. I see that you also have Linux computers that have a problem.
The fix for them, is to manually install 32 bit libraries, as some repositories don't do this automatically.

See this entry in the BOINC Wiki for more info.

To detach from a project you go to the Boinc manager advanced view Projects tab. Highlight the project you want to detach from by clicking on it. Then press the Detach button.

To reattach you do it through the Boinc manager Tools menu. When you reattach say you're an existing member and please, please, please give the same email address as when you first joined CPDN.

Those of you who are upgrading your Boinc, which version are you getting please?

Greetings,

I received this message:
> Your computer (host # 1083490) described below appears to have a misconfigured > BOINC installation and is crashing models. Would you please have a look at it?

This machine is a very early MacPro Tower, currently running OS X 10.6.9 (10K549). I first noticed the problem late last winter & have already attempted several fixes.

1) Upgrade BOINC:
10.12.25patch2
--> 10.12.26
--> 10.12.33 (Aug 02)
--> 10.12.35 (Sep 09)
These changes do not appear to effect the problem

2) Upgrade OS X:
Regular updates, typically between 1 week and 3 weeks after release.

3) Run other projects; on other computers; detatch/re-atach
Einstein & yoyo do not have any execution problems.
Other computers do not have this problem
Re-attach did not effect it.

Do you have any additional suggestions ?
