I have just spent 45 minutes trying to get to some sort of Help. What a technical cluster!!!!!!!!!! I\'m a 30 year IT guy, and BOINC sux. I\'m trying, (and I emphasize trying) to donate computing cycles. I am currently subscribed to 4 projects at BOINC. I am trying to add them into BAM, and what a nightmare. Is there a quick reference guide, or something for the challenged, such as I? I am ready to delete BOINC due to the recursive unfriendly stupid software. Thanks Colour me \"retarded\" |

BAM is an Account Manager created and maintained by the BOINCstats person/people. It replaces the BOINC manager, and apparently makes it easy for crunchers to look after dozens of separate projects. And it does the REPLACING quite literally! If you start to use BAM, ALL of your current projects and work will be killed off, and you\'ll have to start again, by re-adding these projects. BAM is a very jealous mistress! I\'m fairly sure that there\'s info about using BAM on the BOINCstats site. Backups: Here |

Hi Markhanna, welcome to the forum Do you really need an account manager like BAM? You may be planning to add more computers later, but at the moment you have just the one computer. Your one Boinc on the one computer should look after itself without the need for an account manager which adds an extra layer of software between Boinc and the projects + tasks. Account managers are excellent for people who look after a whole farm of computers but most of us don\'t feel we need one. Your computer\'s already doing a great job for CPDN; you\'ve completed a HadAM3P and are making good progress with a much longer HadSM MH model. If you really want to add BAM, I\'d set CPDN to No New Tasks in the Boinc manager Projects tab, wait until your current model completes and reports, then attach to BAM. Here\'s the BoincStats/BAM forum. Everybody can register and post there; you don\'t need to be attached to BAM. Cpdn news |
