I've temporarily re-attached this computer to both projects and pressed the "update" button for each (might even send a trickle or two!) and we'll see if that has the desired effect. Hmm, well none of that seems to have had any effect so far! And yet my BBC and CPDN credits have remained clearly linked on my CPDN account Visit the Scotland team |

I suspect that a lot of this is because only the web pages and the user accounts have been re-activated. The daemons that collect data from user's accounts, and then create export files for the external stats sites, (and also update things like team totals on the BBC CCE site), probably aren't running. And, being a closed project, the external stats sites wouldn't be looking for any export files from the BBC CCE site anyway. |

Been taking advantage of BBC database access again to work out why project records can get detached from the team, apart from the issue of being unable to change the CPID. Yes, I was able to get BBC back into the team fold the other day. It has to be coupled with at least one other project. It can be done but for some unknown reason, not with CPDN (or, so far). Had it coupled with the dormant (but not retired) SAP then the live WCG (yesterday). Now returned WCG back to my live collection so as expected BBC, back on its own, it has got detached again from the team. You could attach to WCG or any other with same email as BBC to at least get it visible on the team list but doubt if you can couple it with CPDN again. When reattaching BBC in BOINC manager, note that you don't see any details in the projects tab - viz account (user name), team and work done (credits). That proves that our records have been removed from the BOINC server / client route. And will never return!! |

When reattaching BBC in BOINC manager, note that you don't see any details in the projects tab - viz account (user name), team and work done (credits). I think that all that it "proves" is that the Scheduler isn't running. See the Status page Have a look at your home page. Does it still show credits? And the cpid being used? |

[quote Have a look at your home page. Does it still show credits? And the cpid being used? [/quote] Yes, the page has always shown the right data. Can't show the link to the "..bbc.cpdn.org/home.php" of course but it's all in order. The CPID shown is the same as 2 other projects - CPDN (part 1) and SAP - but only those two are linked together. The original BBC id is still recorded in BOINCstats despite being changed to match the other pair. |

Well, much of this is simply beyond me! Not even sure what Les means by "home" page. Nice to see you BTW, Les, and thanks for your input. ;-) But, since I've temporarily got BOINC going again on this computer, both BBC and CPDN are listed as projects in my BOINC Manager, both showing the right amount of credit, both have been attempting to communicate with the server - and indeed there has been a trickle or two for CPDN. CPDN advised me to abort the 160-year model that I had only recently begun when I had to stop crunching, so I did that and started another task. But still no sign of my BBC credits appearing on the team stats for BOINC overall. So I think I'll just give up on trying to re-attach my BBC credits - after all, it's the science that matters, right? So, Milo, unless anyone else needs the BBC server open for any reason, you could just shut it down again. And many thanks for your help anyway. Visit the Scotland team |

Not even sure what Les means by "home" page. Sorry, also known as your account page. Look at the url at the top of the browser - it says home. But still no sign of my BBC credits appearing on the team stats for BOINC overall. This is probably because there aren't any programs running on the BBC server. Only the user pagers and the forum pages are "on". (BTW - Do you mean stats on the BBC server, (might be possible to get them run once), or those on the BOINCstats site? (Forget it.)) Hang on for a little while, while I ask a few questions in our private area. Backups: Here |

When experimenting with various ways of trying to reattach my own BBC account to our team (now with some success), discovered something else about BOINC combined stats that I'd never noticed in the past. A member who belongs to two or more teams in different projects will only appear in ONE team's combined table. We have 11 from 81 CPDN members (with credits) who are excluded from our team's BOINC combined stats but do appear in one other team's stats. Conversely, multi-team members included in our stats don't appear elsewhere. Our leading CPDN member (with over 5 million credits) is the most significant example. His one other project is SETI and is listed under another team's combined stats. Also confusing is the fact that a member's combined total appears in the designated team page - i.e. in this example, the total credits for both CPDN (our team) + SETI (other team) rather than what is actually "owned" by the team. Perhaps the first project that gets attached to a team remains as the only one for combined stats? e.g. SETI is older than CPDN. Another example of erroneous / misleading stats is with CPDN itself. For over 6 weeks, we have had a shortfall of over 2 million (the exact number never varies) in the team total (as seen in the team account home page and top teams) - i.e. adding up members credits comes to 2 million more. This has happened in the past but eventually got sorted (a lot quicker than in 6 weeks). Thinking the variation was related to member movements, checked this as we had a few in June / early July but got no conclusion. One member rejoined us on 5th July with 2.9m. His old team's CPDN totalnow has a surplus of 1.6m. With only 4 members with credits, it is blatantly obvious! |

Not even sure what Les means by "home" page. OK, I clicked on "your account" while on this page and it is showing my BBC credits under "Credit From Other Affiliated climateprediction.net Projects" Hang on for a little while, while I ask a few questions in our private area. OK, thanks again, Les ;-) Iansm, It's always seemed to me that there was no logic about the team on which BOINC stats listed a multi-team person - but maybe you're right about the oldest project, I'd need to look at that. And I seem to recall that, in most projects (though not BBC and CPDN), even if a cruncher changes team, existing credits remain with the team the cruncher belonged to when he acquired the said credits. I'm still trickling several times a day in CPDN (aren't these FAMOUS models fast!) and each time BOINC Manager also attempts to contact the BBC project and I get a message "Project is down". But still no sign of the 2 projects re-integrating in BOINC stats. Visit the Scotland team |
