Dear friends,
I have been a BOINCer for some years now, and this is really stunning: after summer break I started my PC and received 3 FAMOUS 6.11 models for computation. By now they have accumulated CPU time like 70, 54 and 29 hours, yet all still show 0% progress.
What is going wrong?
Thanks for suggestions.

Welcome to the message board.

There isn't any information of the results pages for those models, so it's not possible to say what is wrong. If no trickles have been submitted then the first thing to check is that the network activity is on! If it is and the applications are running but the progress percentage is not advancing then stop BOINC and re-boot.

Looking through the earlier models run on that computer, almost all show evidence of communication problems between the various parts of BOINC - look for "No heartbeat from core client for 30 sec - exiting" in the stderr section of the result page (e.g. on this success).

Many of the models failed with a 22-error. The text of the error is irrelevant, whether in german ('Das Gert erkennt den Befehl nicht. (0x16) - exit code 22 (0x16)') or English ('The device does not recognize the command. (0x16) - exit code 22 (0x16)'). However, the number (22) is important. These errors occur frequently on FAMOUS. There are two types: (1) when a physics problem is found, and (2) for some other reason. The 22-error messages on that computer are not for FAMOUS models and suggest a long-running machine problem.

Unfortunately, it's hard to say what that problem might be. Causes might include permissions or installation problems, anti-virus scanning - even graphics drivers. So, the starting point is to make sure eveything is installed correctly and up to date. Making sure that the BOINC folders are excluded from virus scanning might help too.
