Application names hadam3p_eu_ww8e_1973_1_006894726_1 and hadam3p_eu_wukx_1992_1_006892585_0 have 'Computation error' under Status while Progress shows 100%. I just started doing this and I know these two tasks are not completed. What do I do about this error and these two tasks not being able to be run now?

Hi, Jack, welcome to CPDN and the boards.

Tasks show 100% when they crash. There is nothing you can do at this point except allow Internet access so they can be reported to the server and get replacement work. (Server Status currently shows outages so new work might not be immediately available.)

These HadAM3P Regional tasks seldom crash. Is your Q6600 overclocked?

Dear Jack

There is nothing that can be done to rescue the 2 tasks that have already crashed, but, if you make frequent backups of work units they can be restored and completed if they crash. Only a couple of weeks ago I was able to restore a Hadcm3 model that crashed for unknown reasons and complete it. This saved about 1000 hours of number crunching.

Thank you for your reply. I just started so the two tasks I lost were only running 25 hours total. I consider this part of the learning curve so thank you for your advice.

Thank you for your reply. No overclocking just on the learning curve and making mistakes and learning from them. I currently get the message that the servers are still temporarily down for maintenance so I will keep running the two tasks I still have working and wait for a reply. I only lost 25 hours of computer processing time. I will now start copying folders to back up my work. Thank you for the link to valuable how to information on backing up.

I prefer the Northern Oregon Coast myself since I live in NW Portland a few blocks from Forest Park, the Willamette River, and countless brewpubs. I learned from a very wise man that the coast is the most civilized place to live.

I will just keep reading the documentation and wait for my computer to tell me what to do next.

Hi Jack

Until the CPDN database maintenance is finished, which may be on Monday but could take longer, your crashed models won't show up as such on their web pages. When they do, we should look at their exit codes and stderr messages for clues about why they crashed. Knowing why can help to avoid a repetition.

Here's hadam3p_eu_ww8e_1973_1_006894726_1.

And here's hadam3p_eu_wukx_1992_1_006892585_0.
