Hello,

I am running BOINC version 7.0.65 on a three-year-old Macbook Pro, with operating system Mac OSX Snow Leopard 10.6.8 .

In the next couple of days, I would like to erase the Mac operating system and reinstall it. I think that the computer may be infected with a virus.

BOINC is running three climate prediction tasks, all roughly 20% done.

Before erasing the operating system, I am planning to abort all three climate prediction tasks. After re-installing, I plan to reload BOINC and get more tasks.

Comments? suggestions? Thanks.

Best wishes,
Bill Glassmire

The file(s) account_projectname.xml, which is/are in the BOINC data folder, contain the information that said project(s) use to identify you.

Saving a copy of this/these to an external device is a good insurance for when something like this happens. Or even a sudden, total, hard disk failure.

Secondly, I'd recommend reading this thread in Getting started which is about the latest woes of the project: not being able to attach a computer to the project. And two hard ways to do it.
