This NASA project has apparently folded, leaving climateprediction.net as the only BOINC based climate research project. At least for now.

Is that new info or very old info? I don't know what the date of that post is since I haven't visited that specific webpage before. It could be from 2009, or 2013.

The actual boinc climate@home website has been unreachable for the last week, but it was far from clear that it was the end of the project. The last post by kai, the scientist running the project, was about him having to finish finals. I guess we'll see.

The web site is currently not findable, and the last stats update was on the 6th of December 2013.

So it's most likely a recent notice.

Im confused. What types of WUs were issued under Climate@home, and will anyone be taking them over.

I didn't run it, so I don't know about their models.
Only NASA knows what has happened to their project, and what will happen now.

Kai's response to my e-mail to him about the unreachable server.

"HI George,

Thanks for letting me know. I found I can't connect to the server, I will restart the server when I go to the campus tomorrow.

It appears that NASA has other priorities and withdrew funding of the original project but Kai Liu has resurrected it and is using it as the basis for his Doctorate at George Mason University. He seems to be a one-man-band and has other commitments. A small batch of short WUs was available on 23/24 Dec and I wouldn't expect any more until after the holidays.
The model runs in a Virtual Machine so you need the have Oracle's VirtualBox installed before attaching.
