I solved the problem by reverting to Win7 and the WUs are running at normal speed again.

I just happened to get a hadcm3s on a PC that I recently upgraded to Win10 (from Win7). I noticed how quickly it was running and wondered if it was different than others...

Since then, this host has completed two other hadcm3s tasks in a time similar to before the upgrade. Two others are in progress and on track for the same outcome. I'm not seeing any significant slowdown.

When I bought a new computer at the beginning of this year, going from windows 7 to 8.1, I couldn't get BOINC to use more than about 50% to 60% of the CPU.

That sounds similar to the problem described earlier in the thread

Anyway, my thought was it was a fault in my BIOS settings. But nothing I did there helped.

A test with Prime95 proved to me the problem wasn't in the BIOS. Prime95 had no problem using 100% of the CPU.

I started looking at the settings in BOINC instead. Dialing back from 100% of the time BOINC was allowed to use the CPU to slightly less, 99%, solved that problem for me. As far as I can tell, that was the crucial setting.

I've since upgraded to windows 10. But I haven't yet tried if I can set the percentage back to 100.
