I joined this project in Jan 20 and received no jobs for several months.
Then I noticed a week ago there had been an unexplained 5 GB of internet data off my normal 20 GB/month. I thought that was Microsoft doing something or other with an OS update.
And I noticed that everything seemed to be loading really slowly.
The light dawned a couple of days ago while looking at Task Manager to see what was busy - and there were these two jobs taking up 54% of cpu between them. They had long names starting with wah2~. So I looked at properties and found they were located in the BOINC folder. Aha moment.
Looked in BOINC manager and found they had allocated themselves 100% of my computer - I am pretty sure I left it set that it should be when I was NOT using the computer. So put that right and everything speeded up remarkably.
Also, I now leave my computer on, with wifi OFF, when I am not using it, including at night.
My point is that an email or SMS to let me know that jobs had been downloaded would have been, if nothing else, polite and encouraging.
It would also mean that the jobs would have been completed more quickly.

Sorry you have been taken by surprise. CPDN often has long periods with no work for one or more operating systems. In the past it has mostly been Linux clients who are desperate for work but more recently it has been Windows. I am afraid none of the projects are set up to automatically send emails to alert someone that they have work.

As an aside, especially on laptops which can easily overheat running all cores flat out, rather than restricting the percentage of cpu time BOINC can use, I nearly always restrict the number of cores. - On my laptop the fan makes as much noise today with the temperature around 30C using just two cores as it did using all four in winter. Untill the weather is cooler I will not let it run with more than two cores. 5GB seems like quite a lot of data. How many cores are you crunching on?

Edit: I don't think any of the projects collect mobile numbers for SMS. CPDN certainly doesn't.
