BOINC has a very complicated procedure for attaching new computers to BOINC projects. There are some alternatives called 'Account Managers', but the plain-vanilla process is as follows.

BOINC looks up the name of the project in a file - maintained and distributed centrally by BOINC - called 'all_projects_list.xml'. It find the url for the project, which for this project is currently https://climateprediction.net/.

BOINC then issues c call to this url, in the form https://climateprediction.net/get_project_config.php

It should return a wodge of XML text, contain the url for the next link in the chain, the 'master url'.

But I can't get it to work for this project. I've tried variations of climateprediction.net and cpdn.org, with and without a 'www.' prefix, with http and https. None of them work.

This may be to do with the security certificate problems we're having at the moment, but it should be checked as a matter ot urgency as soon as the new certificates are installed.

Pleased to report that attaching to the project is now possible again.

It seems to have been associated with the error messages we were seeing on this website, and was sorted out by the same fix.
