I just installed the BOINC client on a new computer, and it’s not receiving any work units. The last news item on the climateprediction.net site was posted a year ago, and even though the servers are reported to be up, the “Tasks ready to send” metric is 0. So it seems like the project has been abandoned.

I just installed the BOINC client on a new computer, and it’s not receiving any work units. The last news item on the climateprediction.net site was posted a year ago, and even though the servers are reported to be up, the “Tasks ready to send” metric is 0. So it seems like the project has been abandoned.

If you look at some of the posts in the number crunching section you will see information about the most recent batches. This includes a post from Glenn a scientist who volunteers his time that the next WAH tasks will be released early next month. Until then it is likely there will just be resends from computers that have crashed tasks. Also if you look in more detail at the server status page you will see that the WAH2 AND WAH2ri task types have 82 and 33 users respectively returning completed tasks in the past 24 hours.

new work 2024 contains information about recent releases and will have more when the next batch is released or more information is available.
